Darius Slay gets the league’s top seventh cornerback salary after got a big contract on Friday.
The NFL’s reporter Ian Rapoport said that Slay agreed to renew a new contract with Detroit Lions which worths $48 million for 4-year, including $23.1 in guaranteed. Slay will enter the final year of his rookie contract and will receive $50.2 million over the next five years. This new contract makes his salary ranked seventh during the league’s cornerback.
Slay has grown into one of the best league’s cornerback even though person mostly ignored the growth of him, he succeeded. Slay has four steals in the past two seasons and he was voted the second best cornerback on the Internet last year.
Nevin Lawson, four-round pick in 2014, is ecpected to be the parner of Slay. Slay has shown the ability of man-mark opponents top wide receiver and is likely to assume a more important task in the new season.
Lion need to keep Slay after the loss of offensive line and defensive line. The Slay’s new contract can ecsure he will play for the Lion in the foreseeable future.
